Critical Reception[]

Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic gave the album five-in-a-half stars, writing in his review: "Kenny G's breakthrough effort featured the hit "Songbird," which is the definitive example of the saxophonist's smooth, lyrical playing; the rest of the album is nearly as good, highlighting his melodic, jazzy pop."
