Album Background[]

"For My Broken Heart" is Reba McEntire's first album after an airplane crash that killed most of the members from her touring band.

According to McEntire in the album notes, the album is "a form of healing for all our broken hearts" and the songs were chosen to that effect.

Chart Performance[]

"For My Broken Heart" peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, selling 4 million copies and becoming one of McEntire's biggest-selling albums.

Critical Reception[]

Entertainment Weekly gave the album an "A"-minus, writing that McEntire "still hits her stride with the more traditional songs of emotional turmoil."

Brian Mansfield of Allmusic called it "the strongest album of McEntire's career" and her "most heartbreaking" album.
